Time for some data, nerds.

Texas. A really large state. But how about their basketball team? Well they do have a 7’ player. Which is pretty large.

They have 2 losses on the year. Double the number of losses we have! But they have matched our win total, due to a scheduling quirk in which they’ve actually played one more game than we have. But you know what that means…extra data points!!! So one common theme in their losses is their turnovers. 16 turnovers in a loss to Duke and 19 turnovers in a loss to Arizona State. In their wins they have not turned the ball over much at all. If we force a lot of turnovers, limit their shooting, and we take care of the ball and shoot a high percentage I feel great about our chances.

I do hope to see a technical foul on State in this one. Not sure we can keep winning without those Techs. I know Wade and his staff are analytical freaks like us so I’m sure they’re giving this same scouting report to the players. Except it’s 4:15 AM in Maui so hopefully they’re all getting some rest.

DW is a very good player. I don’t think he’s the type of player to be the bus driver of the offense. He seems like an elite complimentary piece. But we don’t have a primary option to allow him to be the complimentary piece. DW seems like a great shooter. But I think Able or McNeil or somebody else is gonna need to step up to open things up for DW

Seems like we don’t have an answer for teams that play physical defense and extend out past the 3pt line. They take away the 3 pointer and force Q or Holloman to make things happen off the dribble and our offense really suffers. Q can get into the paint but is turnover prone and defenses will live with whatever the result of him driving is. And Holloman doesn’t really have the size to get inside. DW isn’t great at creating his own shot. VAL has played well today. But we aren’t gonna beat many teams if we can’t get our shooters going. DW, Holloman, Able, McNeil are all good shooters but they’re getting no chances in the half court

Well yeah. We have to play good defense. We also have to stay out of foul trouble. Two separate things. Foul trouble makes the issues worse because our best players are either on the bench or playing tentatively because they’re in foul trouble. But yeah. Also don’t leave shooters wide open. Rotate faster, close out better. Maybe don’t switch on everything when a team is that hot.

Q had probably 15 points once the game was mostly decided. But he still played well.

I didn't necessarily mean that as a counter to your point, just that one of the four guys hitting, was prob open on the scouting report, like Copeland or VAL. The other 3 are shooters.
