^Aside from the fact that the helmets are so small that they wouldn't even be able to turn their head, the Titan EVA suits look just too small to contain everything that they would need. Especially in an environment so cold that it could maintain fluids at cryogenic temperatures. So that means very little insulation and active power for heating, with no apparent energy storage mass.

The odd thing is that the EVA suits that they have already shown in use this season (like the opening ep when Alex was driving the motorcycle around or when Kelly was looking for life in the crater) would be perfectly fine. Those are reasonable size and obviously have heritage in this universe. It would honestly make more sense if these little baby baby suits were in use for short EVAs on Mars and the normal size ones were in use for the Titan mission.

I liked this episode. Shows if you choose the path of civil disobedience you risk your own freedom and lives, but maybe the bigger cause is worth it.

Reminds me of some of the deep space 9 plot arcs

My science nitpick of the week...how did the recon shuttle get to the asteroid days faster than it's mothership? You can't just detach and speed up like you're on the highway.

I don't know if any of these explanations are plausible

And during those days -- Mars mission control was able to detect the mother ship but not the shuttle? And why would the Mars' colonists use a timed explosive rather than a remote detonation in the first place? What if there was some kind of launch lock failure on their return shuttle or something?

Probably the best episodes of the series to date imo

lol this show has completely lost the plot of what it was supposed to be. Fun episode though.

Also lol at those marine transport ships. They look like something out of Star Wars with those four sets of four individual engines that allow them to just hover endlessly over Happy Valley after slowly entering the atmosphere. Why regularly show shuttles and all other craft going through a standard entry/descent/landing phase if they have this kind of technology on hand already?

"There's no way Alex can get to the otherside of the base in time!"

also

"Dev has plenty of time to suit up for an EVA and make his way up the space elevator"

Also, those marines are morons.

Kelly just straight up leaving her dead body to contaminate the lake of Titan life.

Sojourner can produce enough fuel in the 3 or 4 days they were on Titan, but CO2 scrubbers or Oxygen production is too difficult? I'm so confused at the entire logistics of that mission.

I thought the blue glowing liquid was about to be protomolecule. They did have the early mag boots, though.

Not even that-- when they went out on the rover mission, they would have known beforehand exactly how much oxygen would have been needed (+margin) to walk back in the event of a rover failure. Any time there is a single point failure mode like that, there are a hundred contingencies. They would have had some kind of alarm in place that would have warned them when they were a few hours out from hitting that, and they would have tried to get the rover running with plenty of time to make that hike if needed. These are astronauts setting foot on a new planetary body for the first time and it makes them seem like a bunch of amateurs.

Sidenote: I haven't watched the Star City pilot yet, but are we turning this thread into Star City talk also until the next season of For All Mankind comes along in a few years?

Plenty of planets with life apparently might as well turn this one into a science experiment

^For all the roasting we do in this thread, I will say that yes you are correct that it is not a smart show, but it is an entertaining show. Season 1 was a lot more scientifically accurate.
