I thought carbone was "carb-one" like some keto thing, not "car-bone" lol

Want to try that, mutti, and the spicy one

If you’re not pronouncing it “carboner” we can’t be friends.

I’ve always been a fan of Classico, it’s fairly cheap and tastes ok. We like to make our own but it’s not really cost-effective, from both a money and time perspective (from tomatoes, not canned sauce)

If I’m buying sauce it’s Rao’s. However I make my own most of the time using this easy recipe

Quote :
"Marcell Hazan’s Tomato Sauce

2 cups tomatoes, in addition to their juices (for example, a 28-ounce can of San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes)
5 tablespoons butter
1 onion, peeled and cut in half
Salt

1) Combine the tomatoes, their juices, the butter and the onion halves in a saucepan. Add a pinch or two of salt.
2) Place over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Cook, uncovered, for about 45 minutes. Stir occasionally, mashing any large pieces of tomato with a spoon. Add salt as needed.
3) Discard the onion before tossing the sauce with pasta. This recipe makes enough sauce for a pound of pasta.

^i don't get it, but butter is like the new health food for maha ppl it seems. My neighbor phill all about it...calories don't matter, not all calories created equal etc. Same with like tallow and full fat milks/cheeses etc. idk maybe oversimplifying, but the obsession with like stuff high in fat is so weird to me. I'd rather just add olive oil than butter

[Edited on June 8, 2026 at 12:20 PM. Reason : Not saying halo is a maha ppl]

We just get that Aldi house brand. The more expensive one in the glass jar, not the plastic jar. I've taken their plastic jar brand camping. It's ok, but kinda sweet.

Man Aldi stuff is no joke. I used to poopoo it.

And the high fat diet? Sure, butter is better for you than margerine, but no butter is better for you than 5 tablespoons. Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of butter in my diet, but pasta sauce isn’t a likely source of butter for me.

I probably go through about a stick of butter once every 2 months, i actually have 3 sticks that I got from sams that expire in about a month. Hardly ever use it or oil of any kind, but I have a pretty boring and repetitive diet

Aldi 4 pepper salsa is seriously good. Like 3rd best out of several i tried, so i can see the pasta sauce being good!

I got the Aldi 4 pepper salsa. Not a fan. Sticking with the Siete from Costco.

But the Aldi knockoff of the Grillo's pickle de gallo is great.

Awww bummer what didn't you like? I thought like perfect amount of heat, nice authentic taste etc. i still need to try that siete from costco but i just can't do chips and salsa and expect to be in calorie deficit

[Edited on June 8, 2026 at 7:39 PM. Reason : I mean it was 3rd or 4th i'd pick, but still thought pretty good]

I tried that Aldi salsa again, this time cold. It was better. Still prefer the Siete.

Last pieces of the puzzle!

And i didn't see it in flyer but carbone is 5.99 on sale at kroger, really good price for it!

Also me and my neighbor phill got into argument. He says pasta sauce and marinara sauce are different. I say the same because raos and other companies don't have a "pasta sauce" they only sell jars with word marinara

Anyone have an opinion? I think companies use it interchangeably and they are same, one companies marinara is another companies pasta sauce...why would raos not sell a sauce for pasta? Phill thinks distinctly different things. He thinks everything without word marinara on jar is "pasta sauce" and everything else has word marinara cause different

Initial thoughts: craving and carbone arrabbiata not really any heat. Wouldn't get either again. Carbone and carbone arrabbiata taste like not even kind of alike. Aldi is ok, kinda sweet or floral or something. Great value is weak sauce, those reviewers are FOS imo. Mutti and mutti arrabbiata have the strangest taste. Tastes kinda like how indian restaurants smell. Carbone regular was somewhat similar. The mutti arrabbiata was the only one i detected any heat. Raos is ok. Out of all that I tried, top 3 were Raos, Carbone Arrabbiata, or Aldi
